Story Summary, The 'INTAFADA' or uprising, the spontaneous daily conflict between Palestinians and the Israeli soldiers in Israel's occupied territories was one of 1988's most significant and on-going stories. This conflict provokes powerful emotions between two peoples claiming a common ground, with an often similar history and tradition, and for whom the outcome is a seeming symbol of their survival.
