Photos of a near-miss ladder rescue by Boston fire fighters on July 22, 1975 when a fire escape on which a woman, child and firefighter were standing collapsed beneath them. The woman and child were hurled to the ground from the fifth floor fire escape, with the woman being killed in plunge and the child surviving after she was cushioned by the woman's body on landing.
